The Cab Ride

The Cab Ride

I arrived at the address and honked the horn, after waiting a few minutes I walked to the door and knocked.. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice.

I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940's movie. By her side was a small nylon suitcase.

The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware..

'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her.. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother to betreated.' 'Oh, you're such a good boy, she said.

When we got in the cab, she gave me an address and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?' 'It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly.. 'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice. I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left,' she continued in a soft voice.. 'The doctor says I don't have very long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.

'What route would you like me to take?' I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing.

She suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'. We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' She asked, reaching into her purse. 'Nothing,' I said.' 'You have to make a living,' she answered. 'There are other passengers,' I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly. 'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,' she said 'Thank you.'

I squeezed her hand, and then walked away.. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk.

What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID ~BUT~THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL... Author Unknown...

Checkers Day and Dogs in Politics Day, September 23rd

When : Always September 23rd Get out the Checker Board. Today is Checkers Day. So, do you want the red checkers? Or, the black ones? It may surprise you to know that it is also Dogs in Politics Day. Read on, and we will explain the connection. Origin of Checkers Day: In 1952, Richard M. Nixon was a candidate for Vice-President of the United States, running with Dwight D. Eisenhower. Media speculation centered around an $18,000 campaign contribution, and speculation that Nixon may have used some for his personal use. In a brilliant political maneuver, Nixon took his case to the American people. On September 23, 1952, Richard Nixon gave a speech that directly addressed and explained the issue. He assured the public that he did not use any of the funds for personal use. Towards the end of the speech, he stated that his daughters had received a dog, which they named "Checkers", as a gift. He said they would keep the dog. This speech quickly became known as the "Checkers" speech, and went on to be one of the better speeches in American political history. With "Checkers" the dog included in the speech, this day was sometimes referred to as Dogs in Politics Day.

Obama and Asteroid 2012 DA 14...February 15, 2013

Okay, this looks strange to me. People saw the devil in the flames of the world trade center as those buildings burned out of control.

As I look at this Asteroid 2012 DA 14 I see Obama's face in the image of the Asteroid. Look carefully at the hairline, the eyes, the left ear and the nose and mouth. To me it looks Eerily like our current President. Does this mean that if Obama wins the asteroid will strike? It's supposed to miss us. Does this mean that if Obama wins the USA as we know it ends on 2/15/2013 ...Does this mean we should vote for Romney so we don't have to find out? Humm???

Obama-Care $1,200 Tax Will Hit Twice As Many...

Tax penalty to hit nearly 6M uninsured people

By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR | September 19, 2012
WASHINGTON (AP) — Nearly 6 million Americans — significantly more than first estimated— will face a tax penalty under President Barack Obama’s health overhaul for not getting insurance, congressional analysts said Wednesday. Most would be in the middle class.
The new estimate amounts to an inconvenient fact for the administration, a reminder of what critics see as broken promises.
Only "critics" realize that we have been lied to?
The numbers from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office are 50 percent higher than a previous projection by the same office in 2010, shortly after the law passed. The earlier estimate found 4 million people would be affected in 2016, when the penalty is fully in effect…
And those numbers are probably twice what we were originally promised before the law was rammed through Congress. But we had to pass Obama-Care to find out what was in it.
[I]n his first campaign for the White House, Obama pledged not to raise taxes on individuals making less than $200,000 a year and couples making less than $250,000.
Oh, well, what’s a promise?
And the budget office analysis found that nearly 80 percent of those who’ll face the penalty would be making up to or less than five times the federal poverty level. Currently that would work out to $55,850 or less for an individual and $115,250 or less for a family of four.
Average penalty: about $1,200 in 2016…
So at least six million Americans will have to pay this $1,200 tax. That is, until it goes up, as taxes always do.
Starting in 2014, virtually every legal resident of the U.S. will be required to carry health insurance or face a tax penalty, with exemptions for financial hardship, religious objections and certain other circumstances…
It is always gratifying to remember that illegal aliens and Muslims and ‘the poor’ will still get to ‘freeload.’
A spokeswoman for the Obama administration said 98 percent of Americans will not be affected by the tax penalty — and suggested that those who will be should face up to their civic responsibilities.
"This (analysis) doesn’t change the basic fact that the individual responsibility policy will only affect people who can afford health care but choose not to buy it," said Erin Shields Britt of the Health and Human Services Department. "We’re no longer going to subsidize the care of those who can afford to buy insurance but make a choice not to buy it."
Unless they are illegal aliens or Muslims or ‘poor.’ All of whom are exempted from the Obama-Care tax. Those people we will continue to subsidize.
But just wait until the rest of the 47% figure all of this out and realize they are going to have to pay taxes, after all.

Business Women's Day, September 22

When : September 22 Business Women's Day recognizes the value and contribution of women in the business world. The roots of this special day go back to the late 1940s. While men were off fighting World War II, women filled the void in the workforce. The returning soldiers found the women eager to have their men return. But, many women were not anxious to return to traditional roles in the home. Since this time, women's role and contributions in the workforce have grown and evolved. Ladies, have a Happy Business Women's Day!
Origin of Business Women's Day:
Hilary A. Bufton Jr. and three Kansas City business women founded the American Business Women's Association(ABWA) on September 22, 1949. The first Business Women's Day was celebrated in 1982. In 1983, a joint Congressional resolution was passed, and signed by President Ronald Reagan proclaiming September 22 as Business Women's Day. President Ronald Reagan also issued Proclamation 5532 on American Business Women's Day, in 1986.

International Talk Like a Pirate Day, September 19th

When : Always September 19th

Ahoy, Matey! Did you know that today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day? It's a day just for fun, a day to let out the pirate in each of us. We like "just for fun" days and we know you do, too.

Practice up your "pirate-speak" in anticipation of this day. The conversation will be lively, and you don't want to be left behind. Today, everyone will be talking the talk, if not walking the walk. It is not a requirement to dress like a pirate today. Just talk like one.

Are you a Pirate at heart, or in your soul? Take the Pirate Personality Test...

Origin of International Talk Like a Pirate Day:
John Baur and Mark Summers created the concept of International Talk Like a Pirate Day on June 6, 1995. While playing racquetball, they began to talk to each other in Pirate-speak". After leaving the court, they decided that there was a need to create this day. After much thought, Mark Summers selected September 19th as the date. This was his wife's birthday. So, he thought it would be an easy date to remember. And so, International Talk Like a Pirate Day was born.

Obama vs Romney, the Stage is Set...What is the Election Really About?

Obama: 1998 “The trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some [wealth] redistribution -- because I actually believe in redistribution, at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody’s got a shot.”

During his 2008 presidential campaign, some 10 years later, it seemed Obama's stance on redistribution had changed little. He garnered Republican criticism when he told an Ohio campaign audience, “When you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Audio Here...

Romney: "There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them," Romney said during a question and answer session at a $50,000 per plate gathering. "And they will vote for this president no matter what. These are people who pay no income tax."

Video Here...

So it comes down to this...Do you want a President that wants to create jobs and encourage growth, pay down the debt and make America respected again around the World? A President that whats to make America free of foreign oil.

Or?...A President that thinks your money is his money to give to anyone he deems fit to receive it. A President who's foreign policy has allowed the Middle East to go into a complete meltdown.

The Issues at Hand: Unemployment, Debt, Iran getting a Nuclear Weapon, Isreal attacking Iran, Middle East Meltdown...Who can best deal with this? Obama had 4 years and it's all still a mess...It's no longer Bush's fault, Obama owns it...

Distribution of Wealth

An examination of the socialist argument

There all already enough social programs in place to take care of those who are truly "in need". The bottom 5% that have trouble affording food are fed with food stamps. Those that are too poor to pay for shelter are provided with public housing - complete with heating, clean water, and most with air conditioning. Retired Americans are kept out of poverty by social security. And, despite what the Clinton's will have you believe, poor Americans have access to health care through either private insurance, or Medicare and Medicaid.

All men are equal, but some are more equal than others. Orwell's observation of the equality of man is as true today as when he wrote it over half a century ago. All men may be created equal, but they sure don't seem to stay that way for long. Some people meet with success, and are permitted to amass great wealth. Some take comfort in mediocrity, and are permitted to live comfortably. And still others embrace failure, and have a hard time making ends meet. It's a simple fact of life that most people accept - the fact that some people have more stuff than others. But have you ever wondered exactly how much more?

Warp Drive May Be More Feasible Than Thought, Scientists Say!!!

By Clara Moskowitz | SPACE.com – Mon, Sep 17, 2012
Full Article Here...

HOUSTON — A warp drive to achieve faster-than-light travel — a concept popularized in television's Star Trek — may not be as unrealistic as once thought, scientists say.

A warp drive would manipulate space-time itself to move a starship, taking advantage of a loophole in the laws of physics that prevent anything from moving faster than light. A concept for a real-life warp drive was suggested in 1994 by Mexican physicist Miguel Alcubierre, however subsequent calculations found that such a device would require prohibitive amounts of energy.

Now physicists say that adjustments can be made to the proposed warp drive that would enable it to run on significantly less energy, potentially brining the idea back from the realm of science fiction into science.

America, the Melting Pot, is this still True???

Deegle Opinion Post: After over 200 years of unity, why would we suddenly divide? People from all over the world have decided to become Americans. Why? It used to be because of the American Dream of home ownership and the ability to move up the chain to financial security. This dream is now becoming out of reach for most.

With our Government trying to take care of everyone, who pays the bills? The money you were saving to take of your family is now being taken by taxes, fees and levy's to pay for people that wont look for a job. How long does it take for the people making money and contributing to the poor to say, "Hey, I'm getting nothing here, I will join the group that gets something for nothing."

I know, I'm a jerk because I get disability from the Military. I should not be able to speak because I'm part of the "system", well I served my Country, did my job and that's the way it is. You have no idea what happened and why they pay me.

Back to the subject at hand: I dont care if your republican, democrat, libertarian or green. I dont care if your black, white, red, yellow or albino. I dont care if your christian, muslim, hindu, jew, budist or any other religion. In America we are supposed to accept all as equals.

Take a deep breath, look around and ask yourself? Are you proud to be an American and what can you do about it? Or, do you think America sucks?

Thomas Drake, NSA, Whistle Blower, Beat down by the Government!!!

Go up against your government and see what happens!!! We are supposed to be in charge. What will you do to take your Country Back???

Thomas Drake is a true Patriot...He went to battle against the government to protect your right to privacy. He was in the US Navy, the US Air Force, then the CIA, then a contractor to the NSA and finally a high ranking member of the NSA.

He went through the chain of command to stop the spying and collection of data on US Citizens after 9-11. He was fired, attacked by the government, charged with crimes against the state. Now he works at an Apple I-Phone store to survive.

To those that are paying attention to what's really going on, here are the details:

Drake took his concerns through official channels – including senior NSA management and two 9/11 congressional investigations. His concerns were ignored. Look Here...

Constitution Day, September 17th

When: Always on September 17th

The Constitutional Congress held it's final meeting on September 17, 1787. Do you have any idea why? That's right! It was to sign the Constitution of the United States of America, a document for which they so painstakingly labored to create and perfect.

After the meeting there was still much to do. Individual states then had to meet and vote on it. The U.S. Constitution did not go into effect until two years later on March 4, 1789.

Military Tanks in our City's, Why is this Happening???

I have to say that this event, which is being labeled a “training exercise”, makes very little sense to me. U.S. Army troops all the way from Maryland running open exercises in armored personnel carriers on the busy streets of St. Louis? I know Maryland is a small state, but is there really not enough room at Ft. Detrick to accommodate a tank column and some troops? Are there not entire fake neighborhood and town complexes built with taxpayer dollars on military bases across the country meant to facilitate a realistic urban environment for troops to train in? And why travel hundreds of miles to Missouri? At the very least, this is a massive waste of funds.

On the other hand, such an action on the part of the Department of Defense makes perfect sense if the goal is to acclimate citizens to the idea of seeing tanks and armed military acting in a policing capacity. Just check out the two random idiots the local news affiliate picked to interview in St. Louis on the subject. Both state that they think the exercise is a “great idea”, because having the military on the streets would help to “reduce crime”

Debt Ceiling Quote by Sen. Obama in 1996

The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.

Print More Money Now!!! We are Doomed!!!

The USA is trying to pay it's bills while spending more money, money we don't have. The Federal Reserve Bank has decided to print more money. This will do what?

Let's bring it down to the individual person: I have credit cards. While not having much money to pay the basics, I can charge it. This keeps me from starving or missing payments on other obligations. The Card Company, based on my excellent payment record, extends me more credit. I keep paying the minimum's, but the minimum's keep going up!!! At what point do I realize I cant pay these bills?

The USA is at a turning point. Unemployment over 8%, huge cuts in the military as the Middle East melts down, debt at 16 trillion dollars, Iran on the verge of a nuclear weapon, the Fed printing more money than we can ever pay back, Israel threatening attacks on Iran...There was no Arab Spring, there was a takeover by the radicals. This has no bearing on the real Muslims...Radicals rule the day!!

Obama failed!!! The Question is "Can Romney make a Difference?"

Collect Rocks Day, September 16th

When: September 16th

Collect Rocks Day is a day to enjoy and add to your rock collection. Ahh, to be a kid again, and have a rock collection. Well, we have good news for you. No one ever said you had to give up your rock collection when you became an adult. We hope you always keep and cherish your invaluable rock collection.

Kids collect rocks because it is a fun thing to do. They even trade rocks among other rock collectors. There are no books on what rocks to collect, or how much each rock is valued at. Rather, rocks are selected for a collection based upon a wide range of attributes. A lot of it is individual appeal. The rock could be big or small, a particular color or range of colors. smooth or rough, or display a unique characteristic. When it comes to rock collecting, beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder (or rock holder in this case).

New York, No More Big Gulps...Government Resticts Your Ability to Choose...

New York (CNN) -- New York City's Board of Health voted Thursday to ban the sale of sugary drinks in containers larger than 16 ounces in restaurants and other venues, in a move meant to combat obesity and encourage residents to live healthier lifestyles.

The board voted eight in favor, with one abstention.

"It's time to face the facts: obesity is one of America's most deadly problems, and sugary beverages are a leading cause of it," said New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a statement earlier this month. "As the size of sugary drinks has grown, so have our waistlines -- and so have diabetes and heart disease."

Now they tell us what we can eat and drink...Really???

It Takes a Village....

Communism is a revolutionary socialist movement to create a classless, moneyless, and stateless social order structured upon common ownership of the means of production, as well as a social, political and economic ideology that aims at the establishment of this social order.
More Here...

Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership, control of the means of production through cooperative management of the economy, and a political philosophy advocating such a system. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, direct public ownership or autonomous state enterprises. More Here...

Capitalism is an economic system that is based on private ownership of the means of production and the creation of goods or services for profit Other elements central to capitalism include competitive markets, wage labor and capital accumulation. More Here...

If we all contribute with work and money to the whole then everything would work out fine. The problem lies in the people that want something for nothing. Communism is a beautiful system, and could work!!! I what an Ipod and an 60" HD TV. In this system, that cant happen...We are all the same, I find that boring. If I work harder than you I should have more. Why is that wrong?

Communes are great, but they are very limiting. Do you want freedom or control by someone else? Do you want to make your own life or do you want to depend on the Government or even your neighbor? If your not in charge, they are.

Defy Superstition Day is your opportunity to break those superstitious beliefs that you have been living with most, or all, of your life. Did you note that Defy Superstition Day is celebrated on the 13th? It was established on this day for a reason.

Many people have a long list of superstitions. Tops on the list, is the unlucky number 13. Black cats are also also an object to be wary of. Walking under a ladder has always been viewed as something to avoid (actually, there is some logic to this superstition). The list goes on, and on, and on.

Defy Superstition Day was created to help you to eliminate superstitions that have been haunting you. Use today as it is intended....... to blow away the superstitions in your life.

What Schools did Barack Obama attend? Was he Poor? Not.....

While in Jakarta, Indonesia, Obama attended the following schools:
St. Francis Assisi Catholic school, a private Catholic school, for his first 3 years.
SDN Menteng 1, a secular, government-run school, for his 4th year

At this point Obama returned with his mother to Honolulu, Hawaii, where he attended the following school:

Punahou School, a private college preparatory school, from the fifth grade until his graduation in 1979..

Starting at age 6, Obama attended a Catholic school in Indonesia. At age 8, he attended a public school in Indonesia, nominally a Muslim school, which is where the "Muslim" tempest in a teapot comes from.
At age 10, he left his mother and Muslim stepfather behind in Indonesia, moving to Honolulu to live with his Mom's parents. His grandmother was a Vice President for the Bank of Hawaii and was able to afford to send him to the prestigious private college preparatory Punahou Academy, still considered the finest school in Hawaii. He attended there from 5th grade, and graduated from high school there in 1979.
Obama then attended Occidental College, a liberal arts college in Los Angeles from 1979 to 1981. He admittedly was a bit of a party animal there. He apparently got a bit more serious his sophomore year and transferred to Columbia University in New York City for his junior and senior years, graduating from Columbia in 1983.
From 1988 to 1991 Obama attended Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude and was editor of the Law review.

End of The World? Is this How it Ends? Obama turns down Netanyahu meeting request!!!

President Barack Obama won't meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the sidelines of September's U.N. General Assembly in New York, a spokesman confirmed Tuesday after Israel's Haaretz newspaper reported that the White House had turned down a request for talks. But it's not a snub, the aide said. It's due to Obama's busy election-year schedule.

The Haaretz report said the request was "declined" and that this "marks a new low" in relations between Obama and Netanyahu, who has publicly criticized Washington for not taking a harder line on Iran's nuclear program.

Looks to me like Obama is avoiding the Iran Nuclear Issue. It needs to be dealt with now. Not by ignoring the issue. It's not going to go away by itself!!!

End Of The World, is this How it's Ends!!!

Surfaced by the blog Presurfer, a video catches the movement of "millions and millions" of hermit crabs migrating en masse across the beach at Nanny Point on Saint John, captured by photographer Steve Simonsen.

The land-based crabs, also known as soldier crabs, live inside salvaged sea shells they carry on their backs. They are known for a large claw that will give you a pinch or stave off a predator, scavenge for food at the water's edge and are the ones sold in pet stores in the U.S. One is kind of cute. Millions? Less so.

September 911 Remembrance Day, September 11th

When : September 11th

I doubt anyone will ever forget where they were on the morning of September 11, 2001, when they heard of the attacks on the twin World Trade Towers in NYC and the Pentagon in Washington. This horrible and tragic day is etched forever in our memories.

Like the attack on Pearl Harbor that brought us into World War II, the 911 attacks led us into a new war... the war on terrorism. It also touched and changed forever, the lives of each and every American.

On the anniversary of 911, we encourage you to spend a few minutes reflecting upon this event, and praying for the victims who died, and their families and friends.

911 History:
*On the morning of September 11, 2001, nineteen Islamic al-Qaeda militants hijacked four planes. The hijackings occurred from Boston, Newark and Washington airports. The planes selected were long distance flights, which would have more fuel in the tanks.
*One plane each hit the north and south towers of the World Trade Center in New York city. The planes and engulfing firestorm, ultimately brought down both towers.
*A number of other buildings were also damaged or destroyed. Most notably was the Marriott hotel, which was also destroyed.
*A third plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
*The fourth hijacked plane ultimately crashed in a field in Shanksville, PA. Passengers on the plane learned of the fate of the other planes, and unsuccessfully attempted to take back control of the plane from the suicidal the hijackers. Everyone aboard died.
*In total, thousands were killed.

911 Deaths:

Total Victim: 2977
Victims in the towers: 2606
Pentagon victims: 125
4th plane, crashed in PA: 40
# Militants: 19

Deaths included Americans and citizens from many other countries.

Senility in Senior Pets: Signs and Solutions

By Sarah D. Bunting | Pets – Tue, Sep 4, 2012

Taking care of an aging pet isn't just about dealing with arthritis, heart murmurs, or other symptoms we see in geriatric cats and dogs. Sometimes, it's about recognizing a loss of cognitive function. Experts have a name for it "cognitive dysfunction syndrome" but we know it better as senility or dementia, and pets can suffer from it just as humans can.

Teddy Bear Day, September 9th

When : September 9th

Today is Teddy Bear Day. A Teddy Bear is a special friend to children all over the world. He's cuddly. He makes you feel secure in an otherwise insecure world. He's lovable. Your Teddy Bear is both a companion and a comforter. And, he's not afraid of the dark. He'll keep you safe.

Spend the day and night with your teddy bear . Cuddle up to him. Talk to him. And, do all of your favorite things together.

Parents and adults: No child should grow up without a teddy bear. If you know of any kid without one, use this day to buy a teddy bear for them.

As we become adults, some find it difficult to give up our teddy bears. We feel there is no reason to give him up. Some adults have their teddy bears around all their lives. Its perfectly normal....and okay.

Have a happy Teddy Bear Day!

The Origin of the Teddy Bear:
During the early 1900s, President Theodore Roosevelt was in office as President of the United States. He was a hunter. While hunting in Mississippi in 1902, he refused to shoot a small bear. The Washington Post picked up on this story, and made a cartoon of the event. Toy store owners, Morris and Rose Michtom, wrote to President Roosevelt for permission to call their stuffed animals "Teddy Bears". Teddy bears became wildly popular. Their company went on to become the Ideal Toy Company, one of the largest toy companies in the world.

Pardon Day, September 8th

When: Always September 8th

Pardon Day is today. Its an opportunity to seek forgiveness where needed.

Today is also a day to say "Pardon Me", or Excuse Me" as appropriate. In today's busy society, too many people race about their lives, forgetting the small courtesies in life. Among the easiest things to let slip by, is etiquette.

Use Pardon Day to reaffirm your manners. Say "Pardon Me" or "Excuse Me" as appropriate. People will like you more. And, your mom will be so proud!

You can also use this day to seek pardon or forgiveness for mistakes and grievances you have committed. Take the opportunity to clean the slate and start anew.

Origin of Pardon Day:

The roots of this day go back to September 8, 1974. On this day, newly installed President Gerald Ford issued a Presidential Proclamation pardoning President Richard M. Nixon of any wrong doing related to the Watergate scandal.

When Central Banks Rule the World !!!!!

It doesn't matter who you are, what color you are, where you come from or your political leanings. The Money system is "out of control"!!! Money is no longer real, it's just paper and headed to cards only (thats for control). In the coming days, the things that have value will be food, water, ammo, fuel and a group of people you can believe in. Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

Neither Rain Nor Snow Day, September 7th

When : September 7th

Right now, we bet you're thinking "this special day is about a tranquil weather day with neither rain nor snow" ....wrong.

Here's the real scoop on this special day:

Neither Rain Nor Snow Day celebrates the opening of the New York Post Office building on this day in 1914.

This following inscription was inscribed on the building:

"Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night ,stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

Here is the second misconception: A lot of people assume the inscription represents the Post Office motto. This assumption is incorrect. But, this inscription is very close to the old Pony Express rider's motto. Which leads to a third misconception........The Pony Express was not a government funded predecessor to today's Post Office. The Pony Express was a courier and message delivery service. However, it was privately owned and funded.

Now that we have the history and trivia out of the way, let's go and enjoy the day. We hope you use Neither Rain Nor Snow Day to show your appreciation to your postal delivery people, especially those who walk their routes.

How to Survive the "End of the World" as we Know It..!!

This site is awesome!!! If you want info on how to survive the coming global financial crisis, the grid going down for days, weeks, months or years, or a total global meltdown.

Check this site out...

First, take a deep breath and relax. Just realizing that you need to get prepared has already put you ahead of 70% of your neighbors, who are sadly little more than clueless sheep. If you accumulate a one-month food supply then elevates your preparedness into the 80th percentile of preparedness. And by the time you work your way up to a one year supply, you'll be in the 98th percentile. It's not very difficult, its not very expensive, and its not very time-consuming. Just do it one step at a time.

Your List of Lists should include: Water List, Food Storage List, Food Preparation List, Personal List, First Aid /Minor Surgery List, Nuke Defense List, Biological Warfare Defense List, Gardening List, Hygiene List/Sanitation List, Hunting/Fishing/Trapping List, Power/Lighting/Batteries List, Fuels List, Firefighting List, Tactical Living List, Security-General, Security-Firearms, Communications/Monitoring List, Tools List, Sundries List, Survival Bookshelf List, Barter and Charity List...

Bill Clinton, Will he Throw Obama under the Bus?

Bill Clinton will be a keynote speaker at the DNC convention. His speech has yet to be vetted (no one know what he's going to say). This is making everyone nervous. Clinton agreed that the Bush tax cuts should be extended. He stated that Mitt Romney was a stellar business man. He and the Obama's do not like each other. Obama beat his wife in a brutal primary, what will he say? This is going to be very interesting, what do you think?

Voting without ID!!! Why would we do that?

You cant buy beer without ID. You cant buy tobacco without ID. You cant get a job without ID. You cant drive without ID. You cant get Public Assistance without ID. How does this affect anyone that should be allowed to vote? The people that this affects are people that are here illegally. Does Obama need votes so bad that he's willing to let non citizens vote to get him elected? Everyone from rich to poor in America has some form of ID, if you dont, your not from here and need to fix your status or go home...Oh Yeah, you cant get into the Democrat National Convention without an ID...Ironic Huh?

Obama, 2008 and now in 2012...Whats New?

This video shows you, click here...

With President Obama taking his turn in the spotlight this week, the Republican Party is comparing him to his former self.

Today, the Republican National Committee launched a new website to host all its rapid-response retorts to proceedings at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., this week: ObamaIsn’tWorking.com.

Its first barb aimed at this president is a YouTube video that mashes up the president’s 2008 speech lines with nearly identical phrases delivered in 2012. The message: that when it comes to what Obama is offering, we’ve heard it all before.

My Kids and Grandkids...

I love my Kids and their Kids. I don't show it very well but I do. They disagree with me on Politics, Religion and the direction of the Country. You know what? That is great!!! Why?, It makes them free thinkers, active in politics and independent thinkers. Even though I disagree with them, I will support the fact that their opinions and views are valid, I will love them all until the day I die. My daughters are the toughest girls I know. Press on and do your thing. Love you guys...Dad

Labor Day, First Monday in September

When: Always the first Monday in September

Dedicated in honor of the worker, it is also appropriately called the "workingman's holiday". The holiday is dedicated to you in respect and appreciation for the work you do in or outside of the home, union or non-union, big company, small companies, or government. As long as you work somewhere at something, this holiday is for you!

The first Labor Day was held celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882 and was started by the Central Labor Union in New York City. In 1884, it was moved to the first Monday in September where it is celebrated today. Labor Day quickly became popular and one state after another voted it as a holiday. On June 28, 1894, the U.S. congress voted it a national holiday.

Labor Day is also viewed as the official end of summer. While the Fall Equinox is still a couple of weeks away, kids go back to school and summer vacations are over. So this marks the end of the season. Many people celebrate this weekend with one last picnic. It is also the date that many people close up the pool, and put away the boats.

Was it McGuire or Maguire? Either Peter McGuire or Matthew Maguire is the Creator of Labor Day. Peter J. McGuire, was an active labor organizer. He was also general secretary of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners and a co-founder of the American Federation of Labor. He was believed to be the first to suggest a day be dedicated to American workers and their accomplishments. Matthew Maguire however, was secretary of the Central Labor Union in New York in 1882 and many believed that he proposed the holiday in 1882.
